I’ve written loads of stuff about GMOs (genetically modified organisms) and the potential harm they can do us. Part of that harm is because GMO crops grown in the US are what they call RoundUp™ Ready.
That means that RoundUp™ the broad spectrum weed killer can be sprayed on crops we want to keep and it will kill all the weeds around it without killing the food crop.
Now there a new twist to the agricultural nightmare. Not only does RoundUp™ cause exponential growth of weeds that quickly become resistant, it’s being sprayed on non-GMO crops as a desiccant to help dry them quickly.
You’re probably way ahead of me and you’ve already guessed that it’s being sprayed on wheat crops. While, thus far, wheat is not genetically modified, that doesn’t prevent corporate greed from bringing wheat into the toxic brew.
It’s also being routinely sprayed on other non-GMO crops, including barley, oats, canola, flax, peas, lentils, soybeans, dry beans and sugar cane.
That lovely green wheat blowing in the breezes will turn to “amber waves of grain” all by itself, but the agri-business powers that be have decided to speed up the process by spraying RoundUp™ on what crops, effectively killing and drying the plant quickly so the grain can be harvested.
Now we know that glyphosate, the active ingredient in RoundUp™ is an endocrine disruptor. It also has been linked to ADHD, Alzheimer’s disease, autism, birth defects, several types of cancer, celiac disease and gluten intolerance, chronic kidney disease, colitis, depression diabetes, heart disease, hypothyroidism, leaky gut syndrome, liver disease, Lou Gehrig’s Disease, multiple sclerosis, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, Parkinson’s disease, infertility, miscarriages and stillbirths, obesity and chronic respiratory diseases. Here’s the bad news. I don’t want to \ hear it any more than you do: Any wheat product, except certified organic ones, contains RoundUp™. That goes a long way toward explaining why glyphosate is present in nearly every human being in the Western world.
