I’ve long been a fan and practitioner of aromatherapy. Of course, I’m not being scientific here, but from practical experience, I know that lavender relaxes me, peppermint stimulates me and cures (yes, cures) headaches and lemon always energizes me.
There is most likely a memory factor here. I’ll always link the scent of cloves to my grandmother’s medicine cabinet (clove oil is a great way to address toothaches). And who among us of a certain age doesn’t remember the intense eucalyptus scent of Vick’s Vapo-Rub slathered on our chests to relieve congestion? Milk toast with cinnamon to ease a queasy tummy and the smell of fresh cut grass for summer relaxation?
That’s why I was excited to meet the folks at Aromatique, to get their take on the way scents stimulate memory and good feelings.
They created this lovely graphic to help explain how it all works. Enjoy! Happy summer. Go cut your grass followed by a cool glass of stevia=sweetened homemade lemonade.
